About my Artwork

painting in the studioI add new artwork to my website as soon as I have finished a painting and photographed it, so in this section you can view all my latest work.

During the last year I have been painting mainly in watercolours, producing a body of work for my next exhibition, but you will also see that I have included a few acrylics as well.  I like to change media from time to time, exploring the dynamics of tone, light and shade, to bring variety into my work and to keep me fresh.

My most recent paintings are in coloured inks.  I love their vibrancy and the clarity of their colours.  The transparent coloured glazes blend and intermingle on the paper, creating a wonderful rhythm between light, colour and shadow, so there will be plenty more of that style in the coming months!

As an artist I channel my energies and inspirations into my artwork, painting the subjects I feel most excited about, which includes narrative artwork showing people going about their daily lives and vignettes of dancers and sports people showing their enjoyment of physical movement.

All my work evolves gradually from my plein air sketches and resource shots.  Each painting is a synthesis of the original subject arrived at through a distillation of its essence, combined with my connection to the whole experience at the time.
